The post about another broken abdomen, throwback Thursday Cuba style and a day with dad...

  • Feeling a touch defeated for #coffeetime today. I broke my abdomen during training this morning. For real. While doing military style push-ups I got a sharp pain on the left side of my stomach. This happened before but never to this extent. Tony won't work my core again until I get it checked out. I'm seeing Dr Pitt today with my dad so I'll ask him to take a look. I can feel it right now just sitting down. If this delays my training, I am not going to be happy. I hate being limited and not working my core really limits me at the gym. And core is what I need to work the most. I've only got 5.5 weeks left before my surgery. I want to get as far along as possible because I'm not going to be doing anything for a few weeks while I recover. Which will probably just about kill me...

  • What coulda been a bunch of posts put into one. Top left is #ThrowbackThursday circa 1995. That's me and my baby sister Rita in Santiago de Cuba. Word of advice. Never go to Cuba and stay at a 3-star resort. Just saying.
  • Top right the snazzy pen my dad got from my cousin Paul. I just learned he got a job as assistant coach with the Anaheim Ducks. Go Anaheim! I really don't pay attention to hockey hence me only learning about this now when it happened a couple weeks ago.
  • Bottom left is what Dr Pitt prescribed me. I have to apply it 4x per day and lay off abs for 5 days. The good news is that while examining me, Dr Pitt said he could feel muscle. The bad news is that if it doesn't help I have to get a cortisone shot in my gut. Dr Pitt saw me in June for a physical. He said he can feel so much more muscle definition everywhere on my torso. Score!
  • Bottom right, you know that guy. Had a good and busy day with him. He got put on a medication to slow his memory loss down. Dr Pitt asked him the year and he said 1986. My heart twisted. Then he asked if he knew what street we were on and my dad said he wasn't familiar with the area. That's when my heart broke. He's lived in that area since 1965. That aside, what he can remember is my arm surgery and that's all he wanted to talk about. I can tell he's anxious and maybe I should have just told him right before I was going to have the procedure done. But I had to give Dr Pitt a form to sign for the plastic surgeon and my dad would be present when I did this. Anyway, we did prescriptions, groceries, lunch, pill organizing and laundry. We also went to see my girlfriend Gillian's garden. I'm home now and having #winetime. Cheers:-)

  • It was a busy day. I managed to fit 5 eats into my day. And winetime of course. Here's a quick rundown of my food:

  • Banana - pre workout
  • 2x coffee with cream
  • Hardboiled eggs & orange - post workout
  • 1/2 chicken w tossed salad - Swiss Chalet
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Red wine
  • Cabbage w ground pork
  • Lots of h2o

  • I'm tired of eating and just plain tired. I've been up since 5am and I'm ready for bed. Tomorrow I have running to do. And right now I have to rub relieving gel on my abdomen. Because if it doesn't rub the Voltaren on it's stomach, it gets the hose again. I really don't want the hose...
