The post about the most squats ever, a sad day and horizontal stripes...

Pre-workout sportive, post-workout coffee...

  • It's just after 5:15 am and I want to sleep. But it's #sportivetime. I've gotta drink this gag worthy stuff and meet my trainer for 6am. I wonder if my legs feel like toast right now due to HIIT up the escarpment on Sunday, or the stairs and ride up the escarpment yesterday. Either way this should be an interesting leg day. Can't wait for my coffee later...
  • It's finally #coffeetime and I'm fecken cold. I always get the chills after I sweat profusely. Today's training session consisted of a bunch of hard circuits that pretty much obliterated my legs and ass. I did 120 full squats while holding a 35 pound kettlebell to my chest. I also did walking lunges while holding a 25 pound plate straight over my head. Those were difficult. I normally hold 20 pound dumbbells while I do walking lunges but the weighted plate over the head was so much harder. I really had to engage my core to keep myself steady. And today was the first time my abdomen didn't get a sharp pain while doing core work. I think that's progress and it's getting stronger.
  • Tony told me I worked hard today and he said he's impressed by the fact that I never complain. I just do what he tells me to. That and I've never canceled. He said many of his clients cancel when they don't feel like working out. I don't necessarily feel like working out, but I have goals and canceling only means it will take longer to get to where I wanna be. And just like anything I do, if I give myself permission to cancel once, I'll cancel again, and it becomes habit. I'm not wasting any more time. I wasted too much time being morbidly obese. Today I'm going to the movies with Julien. He wants to see Inside Out so I'll take him after lunch. It's half price Tuesday:-)

  • I am so shocked. I just learned that Chris Hyndman passed away early this morning. What a very sad tragedy. He was so vivacious and full of energy and life. I can't imagine how his partner and family must feel. I just saw pictures of him looking happy and healthy in Barbados with Steven. Those pictures were taken very recently. I was fortunate enough to be on the Steven and Chris show in February 2013 for a makeover after I lost all my weight. He made me feel welcome and at ease and made my appearance so much fun.
  • Just before I came out for my reveal on the show, I was backstage and I could hear Chris talking candidly with Kristjan Hayden. They were just having a conversation before the cameras started rolling again. He said that he couldn't imagine what I'd look like all made over because I was already such a beautiful girl. That is something that has always stuck with me. That, and at the end of the show just before the credits rolled he called out to Julien in the audience and said some really sweet things to him. Julien remembers that and mentioned it when I told him what happened. RIP Chris:-(

Bravely wearing horizontal stripes...

  • It's #transformationtuesdayNot sure how flattering the angle is in my after photo. It looks like my head is small for my body. Short photographer problems right there. The pics on the left were taken around the same time. I was in my mid to late 20's and around 330 pounds. That was me at my biggest. Keeping these pictures on my phone and on my fridge reminds me of where I don't ever want to be again. That's why I get up super early on days I have to work. I need to workout before work because maintenance takes a lot of effort and planning. And with working full time and commuting, it's the only time I can fit my exercise into my day. I don't allow myself to make excuses anymore. I spent my former (morbidly obese) life making them and I wasted so much time. Life is too short. And no one ain't got time for that...

  • My food post for today. I ate 6x and it was evenly spaced out so I think I did alright. Today's eats included:

  • Pre workout sportive
  • 2 hamburger patties - post workout
  • Cantelope
  • 2x coffee with cream
  • My version of tuna salad - top right pic
  • Nuts
  • Apple
  • Red wine
  • Zucchini noodles (top center) with ground chicken Bolognase sauce
  • Lots of aqua

  • The tuna salad is just canned tuna mixed with finely chopped onion, carrot, tomato and mashed up avocado. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • The Bolognase sauce is ground chicken, garlic, onion, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, 1/2 cup of red wine, salt, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning and slow cooked for 6 hours. I add the mushrooms for the last hour of cooking.
  • The zucchini noodles were just done with a peeler and sautéed in a bit of extra virgin olive oil and chopped garlic. I'm doing my best to keep my eating clean. And I'm limiting my fruit to 2x per day. Although I'm eating more frequently, I don't think I'm eating more than I used to. But it does help to space my food out throughout the day. My body never goes into "hunger mode" which means my metabolism works the way it should...
