The post about a nasty doctor's visit, discovering I like tea and a warm fire...

  • Meanwhile, Friday on Instagram...
  • It's #coffeetime and my smile hides my pain. I'm so incredibly lower body stiff it's not even funny. Well actually I chuckle every time I use the washroom. It's worse than after my lipo. Two hardcore leg days in one week is no joke yo! But the pain is temporary and I'm happy to have this discomfort. Reminds me that I'm back to the fitness grind. Two weeks of rest just about killed me!
  • Today I'm going to see Dr Patterson. My right arm is still swollen but my left is good. I've 2 suture areas on my right arm that haven't dissolved and I can feel the pulling on that arm the worst. I'm hoping the swelling is just from the soreness of the stitches. But it also could be because I use my right arm more. My left arm is noticeably smaller. And I've just a couple stitches near my elbow that need to come out. And I've got to work. I've a client meeting and I'm working into the night. I'm getting my "To do" list finished this weekend if it kills me. I'm only working 2.5 days next week. Want everything done before I'm off work Thursday afternoon...

  • What a day. I spent much longer at Dr Patterson's office than I anticipated. The wait was an hour, then he took one look at my right arm and said he had to drain blood from it. That's when I got a touch crazy and went through some serious anxiety and I may or may not have tried to bargain with him. I asked what would happen if he didn't drain it and he said I could get an infection. Then I asked for the percentage of that probability. Dr Patterson has no bedside manner but he's a brilliant surgeon. He half smiled at me and said, "I'm draining your arm".
  • He took 3 giant vials of blood from it and it is much less swollen. I've been instructed to rub lotion on my arms and wear compression sleeves for 2 weeks because the excess blood has caused my skin to stretch. He wants it to snap back. And after all was said and done, I didn't feel it even though the needle was as big as a meat infuser. He said he stuck it right in the incision. The removal of the stitches was worse. All in all it was a gross visit. I know this is descriptive but it's the nasty reality of plastic surgery. On a positive note, I got new suede boots. At least I had them to admire while I waited...

  • The last word is with Smitty's rear end. Hanging out in my compression jacket as per Dr Patterson's instruction. Tomorrow I'll purchase actual compression sleeves. And I'll apply the lotion like a mad woman. Anything to increase elasticity. I assault my thighs every morning with lotion. Smooths everything out.
  • Today I had lunch at the Mandarin and didn't track anything. But, I did eat an entire plate of only protein and a ton of pineapple. Maybe ton is an exaggeration. Three segments. I ate 3 segments. Which is still a lot! They were giant segments.
  • When I was at Dr Patterson's office this morning, he told me my thighs looked good. When I caught a glimpse of myself in his bathroom mirror, I had to admit to myself that I did look good. That's not always easy for me to do. But today I loved the way I looked in my jeans. I love that I still have curves and I'm hoping that soon I'll get some glute definition. So all these squats and lunges are going to be worth it right?

  • Meanwhile, Saturday on Instagram...
  • It's that time again. Wonder how much coffee I've had in my lifetime. #Coffeetime brings a smile and a busy weekend. Today I have to get my nails done, drive to Toronto for Julien to play with a friend, pick my dad up and do a late night grocery shop. I've assessed my leg situation and I'm resting another day. My quads are super stiff and sore. I'll need to roll and stretch them good today. I really want to run tomorrow and Monday.
  • My arms are definitely in better shape this morning. But my right one is still swollen. Not as much as it was before Dr Patterson drained it, but it's still swollen. I have to apply the lotion and scar cream after my shower. I hate touching my arms and incisions. This is where a helper monkey would really come in handy...

  • Hanging with my girlfriend in Toronto while our sons play. My farmer's market haul and I got my talons sharpened. I'm picking up my dad tonight so he can celebrate Julien's birthday with us tomorrow. Decided not to cook a turkey but we're gonna go to Tucker's Marketplace after church for a late brunch and Julien's birthday meal. Looking forward to it because any opportunity I have to over feed my dad, I take it! And you know, all the turkey I can eat:-)

  • A continuation from my previous post about my visit with Linda. We lit a fire which was awesome because I was fecken cold. Ok. Truth is we couldn't light the fire to save our souls but we attempted to for an hour before Linda's husband came home and succeeded where we failed within minutes. He's a fire lighting genius and explained where we went wrong. Something about back draft or something?
  • There's nothing more Canadian then doing maple syrup shots around the fire. Except we didn't really and there was a flat Justin Bieber in attendance. But I digress and make little sense. Back to regularly scheduled programming.
  • I became a tea whore this afternoon and drank more tea than I have in ages. I think I need more chocolate Chai tea in my life. And check out that big headed kid. He turns 8 tomorrow. Delivered at 5:58 pm. Hands down the most precious thing in my life.
  • After leaving Linda's we went to pick my dad up and had dinner at Swiss Chalet. Then we swung by my friend Gillian's place. She dug up a ton of plants for me from her garden that I'll plant in my garden tomorrow. No food tracking today but I likely ate enough. I had a half chicken dinner with salad at Swiss Chalet. Tomorrow morning I run. Should be interesting. It's almost been 2 weeks since my last run...
